HOUSEWIFE HEADSTRONG FOR HEADSTONES OCEANA, Calif. (Wireless Flash) -- A housewife in Oceana, California, is headstrong about headstones. In fact, Elaine McCarthy's curiosity about celebrity gravesites is the inspiration for her new book "Morbid Curiosity: Celebrity Tombstones Across America" (Mongaco). McCarthy says the book originated when she moved from New York to California and her friends asked her to send them a snapshot of Marilyn Monroe's grave. Since then, she's spent seven months traveling the U.S. gathering photos of stars' graves from Babe Ruth to George Tobias -- the actor who played Abner Kravitz on "Bewitched." Interestingly, McCarthy says the hearse carrying the departed Tobias to his grave was involved in an auto accident then hijacked by two men who abandoned it in the middle of the highway. McCarthy had so many celebs that she plans to release a second book and a third featuring European locations of dead celebs. CONTACT: Elaine McCarthy, ****1/2; Arrange with Carol Page; (617) 625-8657
